Man Utd have plans to secure amazing £450M Nike kit deal

Manchester United owners, the Glazer family, believe they can land a world record kit deal with Nike to the tune of over £400 million.

The Telegraph says the Glazers believe they can banish concerns over the club’s £526 million debt by securing a world-record kit deal worth close to £450 million before their agreement with Nike expires in 2015.

United’s £302.9 million contract with Nike, which came into force in August 2002, is currently worth approximately £25 million a year to the club, because of progressive increments.

There are no plans to lay the groundwork on a new deal until at least 2012, but United’s American owners believe that the recent €42.6 million -a-year kit deal between Nike and the French Football Federation – worth a world record €320 million over 7½ years – has set the benchmark for United when they come to seek out a new long-term agreement.
