Ferguson: No deal for Sneijder

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has denied any interest in Wesley Sneijder amid reports of a £35million deal being close.
Ferguson has been reading English press reports the Inter Milan star has agreed terms with the Old Trafford club, but the United boss claims there is no truth in the rumours.
"I keep reading about this, there's absolutely nothing at all to that [reports of United's interest in the player]," he told ESPN Soccernet Press Pass. "First of all I don't think Inter are prepared to sell him anyway.
"You get conjecture and you get speculation every week in newspapers unfortunately. And we have to answer these for some reason - why, I don't know, but we have to find a reason without adding insult to any particular club, or embarrassing any particular player. There's nothing we can do about it."
Reports had suggested that United chief executive David Gill has been in Milan thrashing out a deal with club and player, but United have since confirmed that Gill was heading to Zurich for a European Club Association meeting.

Manchester United look set to complete the £35million transfer of Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder after he agreed terms of around £190,000-a-week.
The Daily Mail has reported that the Barclays Premier League champions moved closer to securing the signature of the Holland international after the 27-year-old struck an agreement over his wages.
Sneijder, who had initial salary demands of £250,000-a-week, has reportedly settled for £190,000-a-week after negotiations. The deal is said to be close to completion.

United Chief executive David Gill met Inter Milan executives at a meeting of the European Club Association while the rest of the team continues their pre-season tour in America.
Gill is understood to have made an informal £35million offer and will follow it up with an official bid before this weekend. Inter are said to be reluctant to sell their star midfielder but the offer has reportedly proved too good for them to turn down.
Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to reinforce the United engine room following Owen Hargreaves' release and the retirement of Paul Scholes.
If the deal goes through, Sneijder's arrival will take the Red Devil's summer transfer window spending past the £80million mark, as he follows David de Gea, Phil Jones and Ashley Young into the Theatre of Dreams.

Van Marwijk: Manchester United move right for Sneijder and Dutch football

Holland coach Bert van Marwijk wantsWesley Sneijder to move toManchester United.
The Inter Milan star is the subject of intense talks between the two clubs this week.
"A transfer to Manchester Unitedwould only make Wesley a better player. He has already played for some top clubs in Real Madrid and Inter, but I think that United will be another step forward for him," Van Marwijk told Voetbal International.
"Because of their footballing philosophy and the level they play at, but also because it’s a new challenge. It will inspire him and give him new energy."
The coach then went on to explain that a transfer to Manchester United would not only be in Sneijder's best interest, but would also be positive for Oranje.
"It will also be good for the national team. Manchester United’s style of play is more similar to the way we play than Inter’s. Wesley gets the ball in a deeper position in Oranje than with his club. We get him involved in our build-up play and also in our opponents’ half. That’s where he’s at his best with his through passes and long distance shots.
"He plays a lot higher up the pitch in Italy and often has to fight against five or six defenders. I can see Wesley making the same impact at United as with Oranje. I think that he would fit in very well."
